Coffee Revolution
Resto Republic is a cafe located in the centre of Calicut, Kerala, that intends to share its passion for good food and good music. It offers morning-wide breakfast, brunch, pastries and coffee, and a full day bistro menu served late in the evenings. Occasionally local music artists in the area are invited to perform, making the place lively at night. They approached Variable to design their visual identity to accurately communicate the brand.
Identity
Taking cues from the name, the visual identity is inspired by the flags of the countries. Several brand elements were created following this theme of a hypothetical nation of 'Resto Republic'.

We intentionally steered clear of the retro, vintage and gritty motifs commonly used by the new wave of trendy cafes. Instead, we use a pattern inspired by the flags of the countries.
The menu is inspired by the ballot paper used for elections.
